At Lightning Baseball Academy we do not believe in a "cookie-cutter" approach where everyone must have the exact same swing. We are not specifically "rotational" or "linear" in our approach, but believe both occur.  The kinetic chain of the swing and the timing and connection of those movements are extremely important.  There are a few mechanics we focus on like good separation in the load, getting into an attack position, direct hand path, strong lower half explosion and extension thru the baseball.  When this is all done correctly with hitters maintaining a gap to gap approach, and the correct spot on the baseball is hit, backspin will be created and hitters will be in the zone a long time.  Our goal is to have players hit the ball on a line as hard as they can.  If they hit too much on top of the ball it will be a hard ground ball...if they just miss underneath it will be a ball over outfielder's heads or a home run.  We do NOT try to create launch angle by swinging up and creating a "hole" in a swing.
